Multilingual Versions
One quiz can have several language versions. They share a single question structure and scoring configuration and differ only in wording — so you edit a question once and every language follows. No more “added a question to the Chinese version and forgot the English one”.
The model is one source, many translations: the quiz itself is the source with a primary language; each other language is a translation layered onto the source structure by question code.
Adding a language version
Under the quiz’s Settings → Language versions:
Confirm the primary language
The primary language is the language of the source content. Languages already taken by a translation can’t be chosen as the primary one.
Add a language
Click Add language and pick a target. The source copy is cloned as your starting draft.
Edit the translation
Click Edit translation to open the translation editor and work through the copy.
The translation editor is side by side: source copy on the left (read-only), the target language on the right. The toggle at the top controls whether this language version is live.
What a translation can change
Only human-readable copy: title, description, question stems, option labels, report level names and descriptions, outcome names, and answer-page system text.
You cannot change structure in a translation. Adding or removing questions, adjusting scoring and editing conditional logic all happen on the source quiz, and every language picks the change up automatically.
Partial translations are allowed. Untranslated questions fall back to the source wording rather than going blank or erroring — so you can ship early and finish later.
Which version respondents see
Each language version has its own public link (the share URL with a ?lang= parameter), and you can Open public page straight from the settings to preview it.
Pausing and deleting
- Paused — a language version can be marked Paused on its own. It becomes unavailable publicly but the content is kept, independently of the quiz’s overall on/off switch.
- Deleting — removing a language version keeps the submissions, because responses belong to the source quiz rather than the translation.
Changing the primary language only re-labels the source content — it translates nothing. To offer another language, add a translation instead.
